Orchard Fruit Smoothie

I have been preparing a lot of soups and smoothies lately.  Long time back my husband got me a Smoothies book and finally we are trying each and every recipe from it.  My son is especially showing interest in picking the recipe and shopping for the ingredients.  This in turn excites me because he is having something healthy almost every morning.  As always I keep making some change or the other to the original recipe to suit our taste and this plum smoothie recipe is no exception to that.

Watermelon Lettuce Smoothie

Happy Valentine’s Day folks! The last couple of weeks has been quite hectic with my eldest son not feeling well. Our daily routine was messed up and we are slowly getting back on track. I have so many recipes to post here but don’t find time to sit and write it, especially a lot of soup recipes. I have been making soups almost every other day. When I got up this morning I made it a point to definitely post one recipe, so squeezing in some time after breakfast. Since time is the constraint I’m posting a recipe which you could try too when you are running late in the morning. It just takes 5 minutes to prepare if you have the watermelon chunks ready already. It’s healthy, tasty and I’m sure that your kids will like it too because my 6 year old loves this watermelon lettuce smoothie as much as he loves his spinach smoothie. So I don’t see why you shouldn’t be trying this ASAP. I make this for breakfast and sometimes as an after school snack. When introducing this to your kids for the first time or even for adults, start with more watermelon and less lettuce. Once you start liking the taste you can do the opposite. You could use baby spinach too instead of the lettuce or a combination of both. This recipe is from the Green Smoothie Revolution I have mentioned earlier. Go grab a copy from the library if you haven’t already. Can you believe that I’m 5th in the waiting list at my library?

Spinach Smoothie Recipe

How many of you feel that you don’t have enough time to prepare a healthy breakfast? Are you bored of having the same old cereal, bread toast and orange juice in the morning? Wish you could makeover your breakfast routine? Then the answer is green smoothies! I know what you are thinking. “Oh! green smoothies, that’s not my kind of thing. It’s not for normal people. I’m not such a raw food junkie”. I too was very hesitant at first but after trying few recipes, I have really started liking the concept. To me the key is “taste”. As odd as it may sound to blend a few greens and fruits together to make a supposedly healthy concoction, once you like the taste, it doesn’t feel weird anymore. You will start wondering how come you missed such an amazing, interesting, tasty and easy way to consume greens all these days. Not only that you will start trying recipe after recipe and each time you will be surprised how good it is.
